A trauma-informed approach to exploring what is happening in your life, with room for both mind and body.

Reaching out can feel like a big step. You do not need the right words, a diagnosis, or to decide that things are "bad enough" before getting in touch.

What somatic therapy is

What somatic therapy is

Somatic therapy makes room for the body within therapy.

Difficult experiences can affect us in all sorts of ways. We might notice anxiety, tension, exhaustion, feeling disconnected, difficulty slowing down, or patterns we keep finding ourselves in — even when a part of us wants something different.

We may understand what's happening and why, or we may not have the words for it yet.

Alongside talking, we can also pay attention to what you notice physically as we explore things together. That might include changes in breathing, posture or tension, an impulse to move, or simply noticing what feels comfortable or uncomfortable.

There is no fixed routine. We might talk, slow something down and notice what happens as you speak about it, or experiment with breath, movement, imagery, boundaries, different parts of yourself, or ways of orienting to what's around you — or we might stay entirely with conversation.

We create room to become curious about your experience and, over time, develop a clearer sense of yourself and what supports you.

I'll pay attention to pacing, context and how you're responding as we work together, recognising that turning attention towards the body can be useful at times, but isn't always what you need.

Across different forms of psychotherapy, the quality of the relationship between client and therapist is linked to outcomes — often as much as the specific approach used.

In practice, that means it's worth paying attention to how this actually feels: whether you can be yourself, ask questions, disagree, and go at your own pace — rather than assuming the right therapist is simply the one with the right method.

Trying different therapists and approaches is a normal, sensible part of finding what actually works for you — not a sign that something's gone wrong.

Change tends to need some consistency. Showing up when a session feels hard, or when something uncomfortable is starting to shift, is often part of how the work happens.

That's different from staying somewhere that genuinely isn't right for you — and part of what we can talk about, honestly, is telling the difference between the two.
